To our knowledge, DefenseReview was the first publication to report on the Ashbury International Group (AIG) Asymmetric Warrior ASW338LM .338 Lapua Magnum Modular Precision Sniper Rifle (MPSR) anti-materiel/sniper rifle, particularly in any detail. Well, the AIG appears to have taken advantage of the last year to develop a more streamlined/closed-architecture chassis/stock design for the ASW338LM MPSR that looks a lot less likely to snag on stuff during tactical operations and Special Operations (SPECOPS).

Defense Review is a big fan of .338 Lapua Magnum anti-materiel/sniper rifles, since the .338 LM cartridge is so versatile. And, if the Gen II ASW338LM MPSR proves reliable, accurate, and durable/rugged under adverse conditions (i.e. military infantry combat conditions) when used by Special Operations personnel, AIG should have a winner on its hands.

While we didn’t get to spend very much time at the AIG booth at SHOT Show 2009, we do have some decent photos of the Gen 2 AIG Asymmetric Warrior ASW338LM Modular Precision Sniper Rifle (MPSR) and AIG SABER-FORRST modular chassis/stock system for your perusal. Just click on them to view them full-size. As you can see in the accompanying photos, the ASW338LM MPSR’s modular chassis utilizes a healthy combination of aluminum and carbon fiber to minimize weight and maximize strength as much as possible to enhance mobility and tactical/operational utility. The rifle also incorporates a left-side-folding buttstock in order to further enhance mobility and maximize storage capability.
