News from North Carolina *another win*

Per our friends at the NRA-IFA, there has been a recent change to NC law with regard to Title2 firearms:


“North Carolina: Governor Bev Perdue Signs NRA-Backed Omnibus Gun Bill into Law

Friday, June 24, 2011

Yesterday, Governor Bev Perdue signed House Bill 650 into law. H 650 will make several positive reforms to North Carolina’s gun laws . . . .

. . . . allows for the possession of Title II firearms in conformity with federal law and without limitation on any lawful use, as well as other improvements.

The reforms in H 650 will take effect on December 1, 2011.”

from the NFATCA: “In plain English it means that anyone that is in compliance with the federal regulations pertaining to NFA item ownership is in compliance with state law, as well. This is a huge accomplishment, indeed.

North Carolina residents can now enjoy the same Constitutional privileges as the majority
of other state residents currently do.

In addition, those wishing to travel to or through North Carolina will no longer be subject to the uncertainty of compliance with state laws that are poorly understood and inconsistently applied.”

  1. The NRA is incomplete here. The law will make that clear for any NFA items except machine guns. For MGs, you still need the Sheriff sign off in order to comply with State law.

    Make no mistake, it’s a big win for SBRs, SBSs, and suppressors. Now what we need is to eliminate the sections of law that make it a crime to hunt with an SBR or a suppressor.
